Francesco Antonio Catalani
Born in Petriolo on May 26th, 1580 – Died in Petriolo on May 21st, 1630
Son of Marino di Lattanzio and Donna Orfina, Sir Fabio Filetico’s daughter, Francesco Antonio completed his studies in Petriolo and in Fermo. He studied literature and legal practice. In about 1610 he worked as a notary for the Municipality of Petriolo.
In 1616, Francesco Antonio Catalani worked as a teacher in Mogliano, a village in the sorroundings. At the Petriolo Municipal Council on February 25th, 1619 the topic is the proposal about the yearly grant of the Public Chancellery. With his speech, the consultant, Sir Felice Catalani (1576-1639), stated Francesco Antonio Catalani’s strong commitment for the local community.
A few years later, in 1623, Francesco Antonio was nominated Vicar of Ponzano Castle (in the city of Fermo). On November 26th, 1624, he was chosen for the public teacher position in Mogliano (for two years, receiving a salary of 200 florins). In 1629 he worked as a publich teacher in Petriolo, and he was charged to compose the new tax records.
Francesco Antonio Catalani died in Petriolo before his 50th birthday, leaving behind his wife, Giacoma Lauri (1589-1643) and his son, Anton Sante Catalani (1620-1688).
